Junk Kouture

The Junk Kouture project is one that encourages second level students to create striking couture designs and impressive works of wearable art from every day junk that would normally find its way into the bin.

Comeragh College`s Transition year students over the past 3 years have been involved in the project and have created some amazing works of art. Students start work in September.  Beginning with designing, research and constructing of costumes from all sorts of reusable junk.  There is always the challenge of problem solving, team work and sourcing suitable materials. This project deepens the students knowledge of the environment, becoming more aware of the amount of rubbish that each of us generates.  Enabling and empowering students learning and creative engagement.

Some of the creations from the past can be seen in the images displayed.  “Solar Corona” by Elizabeth Moloney and Jack Hickey (2015). “Geometric Girl” by Kyah O Toole, Sarah Houlihan and Molly Coady (2016).   “Angel of Darkness“   by Halannah White, Eve Torpey and Eoin Power (2017).

We are beyond excited to share our creations for 2018 !
